NextGear Capital Implements Two Violin Flash Memory Arrays
Cutting latency "by more than half"
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on January 30, 2014 at 2:51 pmViolin Memory, Inc. has been chosen by NextGear Capital to accelerate the delivery of key services to the company’s customer base of more than 17,000 auto dealers in North America.
Using the Violin 6000 Series Flash Memory Array, NextGear Capital achieved up to 1,000% improvement in SQL database performance, allowing them to maintain leadership in the inventory finance solutions industry.
NextGear Capital is a provider of lending products for vehicle dealers and auctions. With tools such as Online Account Management and the NextGear Capital mobile app, buying and selling inventory is faster, simpler and more profitable.
In addition to its own technology developments, NextGear Capital seeks partnerships with other innovators to sustain its competitive advantage in delivering real-time inventory services across the country. When two large SQL database servers were slowing down business, it needed a temporary performance home for the data. The company turned to Violin Memory and performance immediately improved, even before conducting a problem determination on the database. The first deployment to accelerate its SQL database was so successful, NextGear Capital ordered another Violin 6000 Series Flash Memory Array. As a result, the company reduced latency from as much as a second to consistently less than a millisecond.
“We are the leaders in the automotive flooring market because we focus on providing the right services at the right time,” said Chris Brady, CIO, NextGear Capital. “Violin’s storage not only accelerated our services to very demanding automotive dealers, but we see it as an insurance policy for maintaining that lead in the future.“
“A sustainable competitive advantage can be one of the most difficult things in the world to attain,” said Narayan Venkat, VP of product management, Violin Memory. “Violin continues to push the envelope to deliver memory-based storage solutions that enable our customers’ business to win.“
The 6000 Series Memory Arrays:
- Deliver more than 1 million IO/s
- Scale from 8TB to 64TB of memory capacity
- Provide I/O access with latency measured in microseconds
- Plug into existing SAN
