3U, 12 3.5-inch SAS/SATA bays, up to 16 copper GbE or 8 SFP+ ports
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on January 10, 2014 at 2:58 pmLanner Electronics, Inc. released FX-3411 high performance 3U rackmount cloud storage appliance, supporting the Xeon Sandy Bridge-EP/Ivy Bridge E5-2600 CPU platform, formerly codenamed Romley.
For storage and networking it features up to 12 3.5″ SAS/SATA HDD drive bays and up to 16 copper GbE ports or 8 SFP+ ports.
“Cloud-based storage is an increasing necessity for today’s businesses and telecommunications needs,” said Albert Pang, VP, Lanner. “The need for secure, high-capacity storage coupled with high data transfer bandwidth is answered perfectly by the our new FX-3411. The 12 3.5″ storage bays allow for an impressive storage capacity in a single unit.”
By utilizing the latest generation of Intel processors, Lanner has ensured that the FX-3411 is powerful and future-proof. The two Xeon E5-2600 CPUs are linked with QuickPath Interconnect (QPI) at 25.6 GB/s per link; serial connections which ensure speedy and secure data transfer, allowing the two CPUs to function as a coherent whole.
For external data transfer, the FX-3411 is equipped two Ethernet modules, allowing a customizable range of I/O options, including up to 8 SFP+ slots operating at 10Gb/s, or 16 SFP/RJ45 ports at 1 Gb/s. The Ethernet modules are available from Lanner with optional LAN bypass function to forward data packets even if the device shuts down or hangs. The appliance is further equipped with a standard IPMI port to enable remote management and configuration.
The FX-3411 is also available in a high-security variant (the FX-3411) which is equipped with a Cavium Nitrox CN1620 security acceleration processor, for handling computation-expensive encryption and other security measures.
