IBM Raises Questions About its Server and Storage Business

Rumor that Lenovo could buy it

It’s just a rumor we got from an executive of a big storage company: IBM raises questions about its server and storage business in bad health and could sell it.

To whom? Lenovo from China, that is searching to evolve its portfolio in enterprises, was cited as a possible buyer.

The same Lenovo acquired the IBM’s PC business in 2005 for $1.75 billion.

If it happens, Lenovo could directly compete with EMC in enterprise storage even if the two companies have a common subsidiary, majority-owned by Lenovo, LenovoEMC, formerly Iomega, in small external NAS for storage up to 48TB and for surveillance.
