Melanie Sommer VP Marketing, Spanning Cloud Apps

Sommer, Spanning Cloud Apps Spanning Cloud Apps, Inc., provider of backup and recovery for cloud applications and creators of Spanning Backup for Google Apps, announces the appointment of Melanie Meyer Sommer as VP marketing.

She is responsible for building and driving awareness of Spanning’s brand, while generating demand for the company’s enterprise data protection solutions for Google Apps and Salesforce.com.

She has a track record as a creative and passionate leader and brings over 20 years of marketing, sales and communications experience to Spanning. She has worked at business-to-business marketing agencies, early-stage technology start-ups and some large technology companies. She has driven brand and marketing programs with firms including Motorola, IBM/Tivoli, Sun Microsystems, Compaq Computer Corporation and Waveset.

Melanie’s extensive background covers all aspects of innovative marketing and she brings exceptional enterprise security, cloud and compliance expertise to Spanning,” says Jeff Erramouspe, CEO and president, Spanning. “She is a great new addition to the executive team and will play an integral role in the company as we expand our product offerings.”

Most recently, Sommer led the marketing communications and market development teams for SailPoint where she helped launch the company and establish it as the market-leading identity and access management vendor.

She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in communications from the University of Texas at Austin.
