IDrive Express Online Backup and Data Restore for Linux Distros

Restricted to US, free for one year then $60 for 1TB

IDrive Inc. Express service is available for Linux distros.

The service uses a physical drive to ship large amounts of data to and from customers, for backup and restore, to eliminate bandwidth congestion and provide a faster data upload/restore process.

The online backup provider has been offering the service (free of charge to both business and personal users) to its Windows and Mac users since this past August. It provides faster backup and retrieval and is suited for customers with large amounts of data.

We wanted to provide the same simplicity and effectiveness to our Linux users as well,” says Raghu Kulkarni, CEO, IDrive.

Due to the complexity of Linux OSs, many companies don’t offer features or services that are compatible. However, the increase in popularity for Linux, as well as customers’ need for backup and restore services, made the company’s decision to expand the express service to other OSs an obvious endeavor.

We’ve made it a priority to provide our Linux users with the best cloud backup and data retrieval services possible,” Kulkarni adds. “We want to offer all of our customers the opportunity to benefit from our trustworthy, easy-to-use, and secure features.

The service is free once a year for Pro Personal and three times a year for Pro Business users. After that, the service costs $59.95, with shipping costs included. Data is protected with 256-bit AES encryption during shipment and storage and, for another level of protection, users have the option to use an NSA-proof private key. The service can be utilized for backup or retrieval, up to 1TB, within the US only.
