Sepaton Assigned Two Patents

On de-dupe and data protection system performance

Sepaton, Inc. announced that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office recently assigned company the following patents:

  • U.S. Patent No. 8,572,434, entitled, System Health Monitor. This patented method allows focus on overall data protection system/application performance, versus the performance of individual components, jobs, or modules. It can be used to predict potential, future issues based on expected percentages or thresholds of data, proactively identifying why a specific processing state is being affected and highlighting areas requiring further triage by engineering. The System Health Monitor enables to provide superior customer support, increased system efficiency and reduced client costs.
  • U.S. Patent No. 8,527,558, entitled, Distributed Garbage Collection. After regions of redundancy are identified, this patented method frees up the space used by the redundant copy of data saving space and costs.

Sepaton’s patent portfolio now includes 15 patents covering the building blocks for enterprise data protection.

According to Jeff Tofano, CTO, Sepaton, “These patents are the result of our work with customers to help them achieve the most efficient data deduplication techniques optimized for complex enterprise environments.  Sepaton continues to develop scalable, high-performing technologies resulting in innovative, patentable solutions to meet stringent customer requirements.”
