SunGard Availability Services Powers Savanna Energy Services

SunGard Availability Services, a registered trademarks of SunGard Data Systems Inc. and a provider of information availability through managed IT, cloud and recovery services, has worked in partnership with Allstream, Inc. and NetApp, Inc. to enable the migration of Savanna Energy Services Corporation production data environment to its new data center in Calgary, as well as a backup and recovery solution.

Savanna is a premiere drilling, well servicing and oilfield rentals company. Based in Calgary, AB and founded in 2001, Savanna has head offices in Houston and Brisbane, and several field offices throughout Canada, the US and Australia.

SunGard’s NetBackup vaulting with Service Recovery Manager gives Savanna faster, more robust backup with turnkey recovery for 90 servers, enabling Savanna to eliminate tape backup and all the costs associated with tape, backup servers and infrastructure, backup licenses, tape media, and offsite tape storage.

Working with data and storage management company NetApp, and Canadian communications provider Allstream, SunGard provides Savanna with support for Managed Vaulting for NetApp with Recover to Cloud for vCenter Site Recovery Manager (SRM). With Managed Vaulting for NetApp, SunGard Availability Services specialists assume responsibility for managing the protection, secure movement, and recovery of critical application data. This approach combines the reliability of SunGard Availability Services’ infrastructure with a lower cost utility-model pricing.
