CAPREIT Taps Actifio to Replace Tapes
Adding cloud DR and reducing spending "by $250,000 over 5 years"
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on November 20, 2013 at 2:25 pmActifio, Inc. announced that its Copy Data Storage platform has been implemented by CAPREIT, one of Canada’s largest residential property land owners.
By replacing multiple tape and backup point tools with Actifio, CAPREIT both improved the efficiency of its backup processes, and added strategic DR capability supported by a local cloud service provider. These functional enhancements will be delivered at a net cost savings of over $250,000 over a five-year period.
CAPREIT is one of Canada’s largest owners of multi-family rental community apartments and land-lease communities, with over 900 employees across North America and Europe. The company recently expanded its operations into Ireland, and now manages hundreds of properties in different locations across multiple time zones. The company sought a better way to find, recover, and store their terabytes of enterprise data as well as protect a multi-platform environment that includes SAP, Exchange, Lotus Notes, file servers and Sharepoint according to CAPREIT VP of IT, David B. Cohen.
“In addition to achieving greater data protection and better storage economics, we also wanted a greener solution that would give us a better carbon footprint,” said Cohen. “After evaluating Actifio’s Copy Data Storage platform, we knew it would do that and so much more. In comparison to our previous tape and backup point solutions, Actifio’s solution is faster, more resilient, cost-efficient and environmentally-friendly. We could not ask for a more ideal solution.”
Actifio Copy Data Storage is optimized for managing copies of data, eliminating redundant silos of infrastructure and data management applications. By virtualizing the management and retention of data, Actifio transforms the need for multiple data silos and point tools deployed for backup, DR, BC, compliance, analytics and test and development not one, SLA-driven, virtualized storage system.
“Our relationship with CAPREIT perfectly illustrates the business leverage to be found in Actifio’s technology,” said Actifio CEO Ash Ashutosh. “Some enterprise technology saves money, and some enhances functionality. Truly transformative technologies do both, and once again we’ve demonstrated that Actifio does, for real customers in the real world.“
