Cambridge BioMarketing Relies on StorTrends From American Megatrends
To protect 12TB of customer data
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on October 31, 2013 at 2:51 pmCambridge BioMarketing Group, LLC, a Boston-based marketing and advertising services firm focused on providing strategic and tactical services for clients in the life sciences and pharmaceutical industries, has chosen StorTrends from American Megatrends, Inc. (AMI) to provide multiple SAN arrays to support the firm’sgrowing need for storage capacity and protection.
Despite the firm’s relative size, Cambridge BioMarketing creates a lot of data – creating drafts of client treatments for web and print literally on the hour. Such work creates a vast store of data that must be protected and available 24/7. Because this work represents their real value to their customers, data redundancy, de-duplication and protection remain top of mind for Cambridge BioMarketing’s internal IT department.
Working through their long-time IT service provider and storage solution reseller Prevare, LLC, based in nearby Beverly, MA, Cambridge determined that redundancy, resiliency and affordability were top priorities. Based on these needs, Prevare recommended StorTrends SAN appliances, for their combination of features and cost-competitiveness.
Reviewing the vendor selection process, Prevare president Chris Haight commented: “As I researched potential SAN solutions for Cambridge, I kept coming back to StorTrends from AMI. It had the ability to handle capacity needs, the required redundancy in their HA configuration, a very easy and intuitive GUI, certification with VMware and JBODs for future expansion. But what sealed the deal was the price – StorTrends was 25% less than a similar solution from another vendor.”
The StorTrends solution selected by Cambridge BioMarketing currently supports 12TB of storage capacity, with the ability to expand over time by adding JBODs. Theseappliances give customers like Cambridge BioMarketing the ability to avoid costly forklift upgrades in the future, adding capacity in a ‘buy-as-you-grow’ model.
This option for future expansion gives Cambridge BioMarketing added confidence in their StorTrends decision.
Tony Taglieri, IT director, Cambridge BioMarketing, noted: “The StorTrends SAN arrays are working as expected. We see good I/O performance across the board and are highly impressed with the usability of StorTrends’ ManageTrends software GUI. With the JBODs, we feel like we’ll be able to meet the challenges of future data growth with little disruption to our business.”
