Violin Memory Launches Maestro Memory Services Software Suite
Transforms legacy data center storage to memory-based infrastructure.
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on October 2, 2013 at 2:53 pmViolin Memory, Inc. announced the availability of Maestro, a suite of memory services software for acceleration, tiering, migration and protection of application data in the enterprise data center.
As part of the company’s enterprise memory software portfolio, it brings the speed of memory to enterprise applications running on legacy storage while enabling a transition from disk to a memory-based data center.
“Companies need every competitive advantage they can get, and that includes being able to make real-time decisions. Today, we are expanding our enterprise memory software portfolio to bring the benefits of memory-based computing to traditional enterprise storage at better economics than what is offered by legacy storage vendors,” said Don Basile, CEO, Violin Memory. “With Violin Maestro, data can be tiered in real time across memory and disk storage to accelerate applications at the speed of memory.”
The suite of services runs on memory-optimized, hardware-accelerated appliances to integrate into customers’ existing data center environments. The software on the appliance provides non-disruptive migration of data off legacy storage to high performance memory arrays. Combined with the Violin Memory OS and the symphony management software, it revitalizes existing IT infrastructure to be more agile and responsive to business needs.
“Deploying the Violin Memory appliance was a breeze. Installation was quick, non-disruptive and required no changes to our applications, servers or storage,” said Jeffrey B. Dalton, CISSP technical operations officer, TransCentra, Inc. “We had to do no tuning or re-configuration. The Memory Appliance software transparently learns our application I/O patterns and accelerates performance. Our server CPU utilization went from more than 90% to 45%, which is like getting an additional SUN server with Oracle licensing included for free. The performance gains and cost savings are incredible.“
