The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: “Directly powering an information handling system non-volatile storage device through an external connector allows imaging of the non-volatile storage device through the external connector with the information handling system in a powered down state. Imaging in a powered down state by providing power and image data to the non-volatile storage device directly through an external connection allows imaging while the information handling system is packaged, such as at intermediate shipping locations.”
The patent application was filed on Feb. 1, 2011 (13/019,107).
