HP dead-ends EVA
As expected, the end of the HP Enterprise Virtual Array is here. HP will stop selling the EVA6340 and P6550 after January 13, 2014. The company will support EVA P6350 and P6550 systems until January 2013, 2019 and customers can purchase hardware and software upgrades until 2017. The company will continue to qualify new disk drives, support multiple OSs and SAN infrastructure until 2017.
Connor added later, on September 18, on another newsletter:
You’ll notice that our first story today also ran yesterday without any mention of what HP EVA customers can do. Trust me, HP wouldn’t leave them in the lurch. That was my fault.
Existing EVA customers will be transitioned to the HP Converged Storage platform, specifically the HP 3PAR StoreServ. Using the HP EVA to 3PAR online Import software, users can move data from the EVA to 3PAR StoreServ via the CommandView EVA.
