Brainsurf Chose Zerto
To protect Oracle database and Exchange
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on September 16, 2013 at 2:57 pmIT service provider BrainSurf required a more reliable and comprehensive BC/DR solution to protect its customers’ applications which span multiple VMs.
BrainSurf’s manufacturing customers across the U.S. rely on the organization to manage and support all IT operations, and require zero downtime to stay in production. This means the continued success of BrainSurf’s customers depends on the reliability of the company’s IT operations and offerings.
The firm chose Zerto, Inc.‘s Virtual Replication (ZVR) as a BC/DR offering for customers to protect mission-critical applications including Oracle Databases and Exchange. Now, BrainSurf is able to host the Oracle application on VMs and to protect the application, so it can be recovered and backup and running quickly for customers in the event of a disaster.
BrainSurf’s IT environment is 80% virtualized, and prior to implementing ZVR, the company had an inefficient DR offering for customers with a RTO of two hours and a RPO of three hours. The organization wanted to implement a strategy that could replicate VMs in real-time. Once the BrainSurf team tested ZVR, it realized the reliability and speed would be able to suit its customers’ needs and ensure protection and fast recovery of applications like Oracle Databases. With ZVR implemented, BrainSurf customers now experience an RPO of seconds and an RTO of 15-30mn, while protecting all VMs. The streamlined system also allows for more comprehensive reporting, faster alerts and minimal administration.
"One of the greatest strengths of ZVR is the testing component that allows us to show our customers how reliable this BC/DR solution is," said Brian Acciavatti, director of operations, BrainSurf. "What we’re particularly excited by though is that we can effectively and easily protect Oracle Databases, which means it can be one of the first applications recovered for our customers following a disaster of any kind. Manufacturing organizations rely heavily on Oracle Databases, so we need to ensure its rapid recovery. ZVR also requires very little day-to-day management enabling us to optimize our operational costs."
ZVR replicates data within the virtual infrastructure instead of within the array. By moving replication to the hypervisor, companies like BrainSurf extend the benefits of virtualization, including flexibility, mobility and scalability, to their DR solutions. Zerto’s hypervisor-based replication combines the enterprise features of physical replication with the flexibility, ease- of-management and control, and scalability of virtual environments.
"BrainSurf is a unique customer of ours because it acts as the IT department for its customers," said Ziv Kedem, CEO, Zerto. "By providing BrainSurf with a fast, dependable BC/DR solution, we’re able to ensure the company’s customers can experience minimal datacenter downtime and multiple points to failback to, providing peace of mind for the BrainSurf team that it can continue to deliver excellent service and protect their brand."
