IBM Tivoli Storage Manager V6.4.1 Products

Backup is one of the oldest IT processes. IT organizations spend too much time fixing failed backups and maintaining their backup infrastructures. Administration takes more time as backup systems grow. The ability to manage information and data has become an imperative.

The IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) family of products helps businesses successfully gain better control and efficiently manage their data in increasingly complex IT environments with enhancements in multiple facets of data protection.

From its inception, TSM has been a scalable and feature rich data protection solution. With the release of a new GUI, TSM Operations Center, TSM V6.4.1 helps manage more backups with less complexity and better results.

TSM Operations Center V6.4.1, a new component of the TSM product, is available free of charge to all TSM customers. It simplifies administrative functions by enhancing the visibility of the entire TSM environment by providing the ability to quickly assess status via an integrated dashboard view and to drill down on individual elements to troubleshoot problems more effectively. It also includes an integrated command line interface (CLI) function that provides a bridge for users to query the TSM Server and take corrective actions from within the new user interface using familiar commands.

Highlights of TSM Operations Center V6.4.1:

Tivoli Monitoring for TSM improves installation and adds new reports on virtual environments, client status, storage summary, and trends.

TSM for Enterprise Resource Planning V6.4.1 simplifies and improves the performance of backup and restore operations for SAP HANA in-memory relational databases by eliminating an interim copy to disk. The former two-step process for these operations is replaced by a one-step process, leveraging the new Backint for SAP HANA Application Programming Interface (API) available in the SAP HANA Support Package Stack 05 (SPS 05). By leveraging the new Backint interface, TSM for Enterprise Resource Planning can now support any SAP HANA appliance that meets the requirements defined by the SAP HANA level in use with, and supported by, TSM for Enterprise Resource Planning.

These enhancements are also available in the following product bundles: TSM Suite for Unified Recovery V6.4.1 and TSM Suite for Unified Recovery Entry V6.4.1.
