New IBM System Storage N SnapManager SharePoint Features

SnapManager SharePoint (SMSP) FileShare Connector, Archive Manager, and Storage Manager improve the integration between N series systems and SharePoint environments. These tools allow SharePoint administrators to improve the TCO of their storage hardware, and improve efficiency in the SharePoint environment.

The following new IBM System Storage features
are available for select N series machines:

• SMSP FileShare Connector helps save space on primary SQL Server storage by avoiding the need to bring binary large object (BLOB) data into the SQL content database before externalizing the data. It also allows the bulk migration of unstructured data within SharePoint environments.
• SMSP Storage Manager helps optimize SQL Server resources within SharePoint environments. This assists with compliance requirements for content lifecycle management, and allows customers to centrally manage data externalization policies.
• SMSP Archive Manager allows the movement of older SharePoint data to cheaper, lower tier storage for long-term data retention. The data can be recalled when needed, saving storage space on the higher tier, main SharePoint storage devices, helping reduce the TCO of SharePoint environments with an integrated archival solution.

These new features provide improved integration with the SnapManager infrastructure in SharePoint environments. They offer flexibility in system maintenance solutions, and help reduce the overall cost of ownership.
