This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on May 30, 2013 at 2:43 pmIntegral Memory plc has launched the 1TB USB 3.0 Portable SSD, an external SSD featuring a USB 3.0 interface.
The drive is portable with a credit card size casing weighing 41 grams and it requires no additional power (self-powered by the USB bus). The 1TB capacity will enable users to store system backups and avoid the storage restrictions of other lower capacity SSDs.
Bringing together the advantages of solid-state memory with no moving parts; shock-proof, silent, low-power consumption, together with fast data read/write and USB 3.0 transfer, the Portable SSD is faster, lighter and more durable than a portable HDD. It features write speeds of up to 140MB/s and read speeds of up to 230MB/s.
Samik Halai, Integral’s senior product manager comments: "I am proud that Integral is first to market with a Portable SSD that offers a massive 1TB of storage in a pocket-size device built for speed with SSD and USB 3.0 technology. I think the 1TB Portable SSD is a great accessory for any PC and Mac, and ideal for partnering with compatible audio systems and Smart TVs that let you record content onto an external drive. Portable SSD is also compatible with USB On-The-Go, so you can connect it to compatible smartphones and tablets and get fast and easy access to a terabyte of media files."
The 1TB USB 3.0 Portable SSD is added to complement the existing range of 512GB/256GB/128GB portable SSDs available.
They are compatible with Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8 in addition to Mac OS X 10.2.8 and above.
The 1TB drive has a suggested retail price (including VAT) of £1,285.
It features a two-year warranty.
