PHD Virtual Technologies, Inc. has surpassed its 6,000 customer, and continues on its
40% year over year growth rate, one of the fastest
growing companies in its space.
It also announced their data protection solutions now protect over
400,000 VMs worldwide. The company exhibited its product
line at the Citrix Synergy event in Los Angeles, May 22-24, 2013, and
showed how it is possible to obtain 360 degree visibility and protect mission
critical data on Xenserver, XenDesktop and XenApp environments.
"We are continuing to see our
customer base grow in all our related product segments for those wanting
reliable data protection, especially in the Citrix environments," said
Steve Kahan, CMO, PHD Virtual. "Direct
customer feedback tells us that our customers continue to choose us because of
the strong feature functionality we provide while delivering it at a fraction
of the cost of competing alternatives – something we plan to continue."
In March of this year, PHD secured another $2 million in its series C funding
led by Insight Venture Partners and Citrix, both current investors in the
company. Funds are being used to fuel technology innovation and drive sales,
expansion into Europe and product development initiatives.
"PHD Virtual has carved a big niche
by appealing to Citrix administrators who are responsible for managing virtual
and cloud environments," said Andy Cohen, VP, strategic development
and investments, Citrix Systems, Inc. "We believe
the opportunities for Citrix customers will continue to expand exponentially
and PHD Virtual is perfectly positioned for that opportunity. Citrix continues
to see great prospects for this business."
Recently the company made product announcements around its cloud capabilities
and DR assurance. PHD Virtual 6.2 with CloudHook is the first and only solution
on the market to offer powerful local VM backup capabilities, as well as a link
to public or private cloud storage for offsite backups.
The latest release of PHD’s Virtual Backup and Replication includes a module
for virtual backup to the cloud making it easy and affordable for SMBs to
backup and recover data to and from the cloud at the touch of a button and with
the unique Rollback Recovery users can achieve much faster RTOs for full
VM recovery from the cloud.
PHD’s ReliableDR 3.1, DR assurance solution for businesses with virtualized and
cloud environments reduces the cost of IT DR testing to support increasingly aggressive
recovery service level agreements demanded by businesses and compliance
auditors.
"PHD Virtual Backup is tailored for
Citrix, and they speak the Citrix language," said Tony Archibold, IT manager
at Living Water International, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping
developing communities create sustainable water, sanitation and hygiene
solutions. "PHD keeps up with all
the feature pack releases and offers direct integration with XenCenter. We use
their services to backup our systems daily, and we also use their replication
feature to replicate our critical systems to a secondary site for DR
protection. The best part is we do all this without impacting our production
systems."
Archibold concluded: "Their
deduplication technology is also great, allowing me to average a 34:1 dedupe
ratio on daily backups. If people are using Citrix for their virtualization
platform they should definitely be using PHD Virtual for data protection."
