Services Ltd (JMFS), one of India’s largest brokerage firms,
consolidated their infrastructure on Dell PowerEdge Servers with VMWare, Inc.‘s
virtualization software and EqualLogic storage solutions.
This enabled JMFS to eliminate system downtime and ensure the HA of their
trading systems to secure continued customer loyalty.
To provide effective financial solutions and sustain a business model that
caters to their clients’ varied requirements, JMFS operates complex trading
systems, connects to multiple stock exchanges, and provides real-time trading
information to clients. The company required a scalable infrastructure that
would meet the HA demands of their clients and eliminate frequent system
downtime.
JMFS decided to consolidate the server infrastructure at the company’s data
center to optimize server utilization and deliver redundancy, both of which
were essential in maximizing uptime for mission-critical applications.
Their previous setup consisted of standalone legacy servers, and the challenge
of maintaining multiple platforms was affecting efficiency. To achieve resource
optimization, a reduced server footprint and HA, they needed to consolidate
their server infrastructure on a robust platform. They replaced their legacy servers
with Dell’s servers and reduced their server footprint by almost 88%.
In addition to virtualizing their data center, JMFS also deployed an
EqualLogic PS6000XV SAN solution to provide maximum uptime for their
critical applications. The SAN supports a clustered environment of servers at
JMFS and provides a scalable storage capacity that can expand on
demand, crucial to the company’s changing business
environment.
Dell was the chosen vendor for their scalability and level of support offered. Support was direct, fast and reliable, which eased the burden on the
company when issues needed to be resolved. Additionally, the team of
engineers who customized and deployed the solution facilitated a knowledge
transfer process during implementation to ensure that the company’s internal IT
team was confident in maintaining the solution. Due to this JMFS was able to
solve a majority of issues internally.
"We are able to respond to the needs of the business faster with the
scalability offered by the Dell EqualLogic storage solution. We can easily
provision capacity for a new project within 15 to 20 minutes, which could
earlier take up to a month even before the equipment was ordered. Working with
Dell has been a rewarding experience and we look forward to greater
collaboration in the future," said Titus Gunaseelan, head, IT, JMFS.
"Dell’s solutions have enabled JMFS to increase business
responsiveness, eliminate system downtime, decrease energy consumption and
reduce maintenance. Lack of legacy and ability to scale is our strong point," said Amit Luthra, national manager, storage solutions marketing, Dell.
