Hammer plc signed the datacentre
solution provider Quanta Computer, Inc. to its
portfolio, in a deal which encompasses pan-European rights, and on a full
distribution and OEM level, by offering bespoke whitebox server and storage
solutions.
Hammer has access to Quanta’s server portfolio, JBOD storage range, rack
solutions and networking switches. Their server products are designed to meet
data growth and flexibility needs, by delivering performance,
reliability and scalability; and are for large-data-set workloads, business-critical
applications, server virtualization and consolidation, and virtual desktop
hosting.
The addition of Quanta to Hammer’s portfolio will further enhance the
distributor’s existing capabilities and offerings to partners in the datacentre
and cloud computing space, with a wider choice of solutions,
and backed by a dedicated in-house server support team.
Quanta has traditionally created specific servers for hyperscale customers,
including the top datacentre and cloud computing organisations in the world
(including Facebook), tailored to the exact needs of each company’s huge
workload. The vendor is also recognised as a main player in the cloud computing
space, and has been integrating resources and redefining its business model to
capture emerging growth opportunities.
Mike Yang, GM and VP of Quanta QCT, said: "Hammer provides tailored solutions across
many verticals, with an extensive on-site services and support network. These
capabilities are important to Quanta’s cloud datacentre customers, who demand
that our high performance and ruthlessly efficient hardware be delivered with a
complete set of consulting and support services before, during and after the
sale."
The agreement allows Hammer to provide completely bespoke Quanta servers to its
resellers and their customers, and to tailor server products to
requirements based on Quanta’s products.
Gerard Marlow, GM business development at Hammer, said: "Hammer’s historical expertise in the
whitebox bespoke server space has been instrumental in enabling us to expand
our abilities in this market, and position ourselves at the forefront of server
offerings. Our engagement with Quanta and the complementing synergy between our
companies means that Hammer is establishing itself as a main player in the
datacentre and cloud computing space more than ever before. We look forward to
providing our customers with such an advanced level of products from Quanta,
and with the benefit of our complete focus on storage and our unique value-add
services wrapped around them."
