NTP Software Provides Enterprise With Syncing and Sharing Software

Based on Active Directory policies

NTP
Software
introduced its Universal File Access (UFA), technology
that integrates with storage hosts, cloud and object stores to make
an organization’s file data available to end users on any device
consistent with its Active Directory security and other policies.

Unlike ‘sync and share’ products that
are on the market, this software is an end-to-end solution that
provides corporate users the ability to create and interact with an
organization’s file data using any device from any Internet or cell
phone-enabled location. This ensures that any intellectual property
generated by employees is secured and treated the same whether it
originates in the office, at home or on the road.

"Today’s increasingly mobile
workforce has created an entirely new set of challenges for IT
regarding the availability, accessibility and security of corporate
data,
" said Terri McClure, senior analyst of analyst firm
Enterprise Strategy Group. "As more and more organizations
embrace the benefits of this ‘Bring Your Own Device’ environment,
they do so at the peril of having their data floating around
unsecured and incurring substantial risk that it may be accidentally
or intentionally accessed by unauthorized persons. NTP has developed
an eloquent solution with its Universal File Access solution that
allows organizations to leverage their existing storage
infrastructure while safely taking advantage of new opportunities
created by the BYOD movement.
"

The company is the only vendor that has
extensions in the OS and file systems of Windows, NetApp, EMC and
HDS. UFA transports data created remotely to these primary storage
hosts within an organization’s data center using the cloud as a
transport and caching mechanism but not as a data store, unless
specified. Working with its other technologies, it is able to unify
storage across vendors and platforms simplifying management and
providing access of all corporate data to end users.

Components of UFA include:

  • Cloud Connector
One or more services that maintain a connection between internal
storage hosts and the BYOD Manager. It integrates with Windows Active
Directory and provides control over limits on size, quantity and type
    of file data.
  • BYOD Manager – One or more
services that offers connections to end-user devices. It provides
flexible caching options, proxies Active Directory security and
    aggregates communications
  • BYOD Suite – Client software
appropriate for all common devices and OSs. It provides end users
with the ability to upload and delete file data, and allows for lost
or stolen devices to be shut down and wiped information

"The days of IT departments
controlling how and from where end users access corporate data have
long passed – we are now in a BYOD universe,
" said Bruce
Backa, CEO of NTP Software. "As the way organizations host
and manage file data in the next few years changes, there must be a
way to secure, protect and catalog file data while making it readily
available to employees whether they are working at a desk in the
office or on an iPad at the beach. With Universal File Access, IT is
always in control ensuring that existing corporate policies and
security are extended and enforced regardless of where data is
created, accessed or resides.
