HP Converged Systems, New Organization
Led by Tom Joyce formerly VP marketing, strategy and ops, HP storage

This new unit brings together dedicated resources to deliver purpose-built technology for social, cloud, mobile and big data solutions.
The HP Converged Systems business unit will extend the portfolio of converged application appliances that fuse infrastructure, applications and productivity tools into a single system. This includes appliance systems for Apache Hadoop, HP Vertica, SAP HANA and HP CloudSystem.
The new business will be led by Tom Joyce, SVP and GM, Converged Systems, HP. He was formerly VP, marketing, strategy and operations, storage, HP. In this role, he has led the integration effort for HP’s acquisition of 3PAR. He also directed the integration planning for HP’s acquisition of 3Com prior to his joining HP Storage. Previously, he was president and CEO of Akorri, a start-up software company specializing in virtualization and storage management. Before this, he was VP of marketing, product management and business development at EMC. he also has held several senior leadership positions at EMC, including VP and GM of IP storage with responsibility for Celerra NAS business. He also was VP of marketing for EMC storage platforms, and worked in the corporate development group where he managed numerous acquisitions and investments.
Joyce earned an MBA from Bentley College and a Bachelor of Arts from Middlebury College.

"HP was the first to announce Converged Infrastructure, which each major technology company has since followed. Today’s organizational updates are the next logical step as we accelerate the delivery of game-changing converged systems technology."
HP also announced that it will align its two server businesses under a single leader to increase the speed of transformation of the server industry and drive profitable growth. This business will be led by Mark Potter, SVP and GM, HP servers. He currently leads HP industry standard servers (ISS).
The combination of the HP Business Critical Systems (BCS) and HP ISS groups will create a $14 billion organization, based on FY2012 stated revenues, called HP Servers.
The combined business will include HP Moonshot server brand, HP ProLiant servers, HP BladeSystem; and mission-critical computing with HP Integrity platform. This organization will extend HP’s server position across enterprises, SMBs, and government agencies.
