Holmatro From Nederland Chooses EMC Avamar From Proact

Holmatro asked Proact to recommend a backup environment for its national and international offices. This primarily involved renewal of the Dutch offices. Holmatro finally opted for a Proact backup environment based on EMC Avamar.

Easy to administer, the new environment will not only resolve the problems arising from the bottleneck between Holmatro’s data and backup servers but also reduce the backup window. In future, it will also be possible to link up new data servers in China, the USA and UK to the central environment in the Netherlands.

Erwin Binck, ICT manager Holmatro, says: "Like many other large multinationals we have various international offices that we want to connect to a central backup environment. Whilst traditional backup software de-duplicates data on the backup server, the EMC Avamar solution does this on the servers, work stations and/or laptops themselves. Furthermore the software only backs-up the data that has changed. These two features result in far smaller quantities of data having to be backed-up daily. So there are no more problems with the connection and we can successfully secure offices abroad as well."

Lucas den Os, MD of Proact in the Netherlands, comments: "The EMC Avamar solution fits perfectly in Proact’s approach of providing best in-class innovative products and services. We are really proud that a global player such as Holmatro has chosen this backup environment from Proact and hope to welcome many more Holmatro offices on board in future."

Proact is providing a complete solution, including wholly-owned, 24×7 support for hardware and software.
