Sans Digital 6Gb SAS Expansion Line Supports WD 4TB HDDs

Sans
Digital announced that its line of 6G SAS Expansion JBOD storage
bundled with a high performance RAID card rackmount systems, have now
increased its capacity and performance by supporting the new Western
Digital 4TB
SAS and
4TB SATA hard drives.

The following products come bundled
with a SAS RAID card and are compatible with the 7200RPM 6Gb 4TB SATA and 6Gb 4TB SAS HDDs allowing for capacity
and performance in a 3U and 4U rack-mountable SAS
chassis:

The 6Gb SAS technology was developed to
address the demand for better data transfer speeds in order to handle
the new I/O performance requirement needed for IT, VMs, and video
editing applications. The previous generation’s 3Gb SAS expander
performance is limited to 1200MB/s and generates approximately
700MB/s in RAID 6 environment. The introduction of 6Gb RAID controller
card such as ARC1882X doubled the bandwidth (2,400MB/s) and
performance to 1,800MB/s and peaks to 2,000MB/s based in our real world
benchmark results.

In addition to these performances, the
AccuSTOR AS212X6SHP, AS316X6SHP, and the EliteSTOR ES316X6+BSHP,
ES316X6+BHP, ES424X6S+BHP, ES424X6+BHP, allow users to daisy-chain
multiple units together, supporting up to a maximum of 120 HDDs or 480TB raw capacity using the 4TB HDDs. Furthermore, the bundled duo-core RAID chipset 1GB DDR3
controller (HA-ARC-1882X) has the ability to access real-time
information and status updates directly from the enclosure and the
hard drives allowing for continuous monitoring and feedback.

Using a single SFF-8088 SAS cable,
the ES316X6+BHP is capable of providing up to 64TB of raw storage
capacity in a single enclosure. When a RAID-6 is implemented, the
ES316X6+BHP allows up to two hard drive failures without data loss at
speeds of over 1,700MB/s using 16x WD 4TB SAS 6Gb 7200RPM HDDs.
