Dynamic iSCSI volume expansion through 10GbE
Users have the option to expand their storage capacity with the use of a 10GbE switch. The concept of volume expansion straightforward, a maximum of eight target devices can be intertwined for a massive volume.
Enable Volume Expansion
Note in order to access volume expansion, 10GbE environment is required. First a designated ‘Expansion Member Creation’ must be created. Once completed, users are enabled to access ‘Expansion Management’ and add one or multiple targets to the volume. If for any reason the volume expansion needs to be stopped, users are able to suspend and resume operation.
Thecus dynamic volume expansion is a solution for corporations or heavy data users who require large amounts of storage capacity. Utilizing a 10GbE switch provides flexibility to add up to eight targets. Compatible units for volume expansion include: N8900, N12000/PRO and N16000/PRO units.
The available NAS choices listed allow users to tailor their needs by choosing a particular NAS infrastructure, either 8 to 16 bays.
