This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on November 28, 2012 at 3:00 pmTranscend Information, Inc. introduced the ESD200, a portable SSD featuring the USB 3.0 interface.
The compact ESD200 delivers real-world transfer rates of up to 260MB/s; offering significantly improved mobile storage performance for consumers demanding high-speed data transfer.
The ESD200 is equipped with an USB 3.0 connection interface that provides 10 times the bandwidth of USB 2.0. When connected to a USB 3.0 port, it boasts transfer speeds of up to 260MB/s read and 225MB/s write; fast enough to transfer a full 4.7GB DVD movie in just 15 seconds. Also backwards compatible with USB 2.0, it ensures that users will be able to move files between computers that do not support USB 3.0.
Due to its absence of moving parts, flash-equipped ESD200 SSD runs cool and silent, and can withstand shock or vibration. Taking advantage of SSD technology, it offers durability and reliability, and is also much smaller and lighter than conventional portable HDDs. For everyday portability, this credit card sized SSD includes a handy travel pouch to protect the drive’s sleek outer case against scratches during transport.
The ESD200 includes a free download of the Transcend Elite data management tool that helps increase productivity. With this software, users can perform incremental backups, secure confidential information with 256-bit AES Encryption, and more.
Its One Touch auto-backup button enables users to instantly backup and synchronize data with their notebook or desktop PC, ensuring that their important files are safely stored in a secondary backup location.
The ESD200 SSD is available for a suggested price of US$239 for the 128GB model and US$429 for the 256GB model. All models are backed by a three-year warranty.
