Samsung Expands Line of SD and microSD Cards

Samsung Electronics America Inc. announced an expanded line of advanced SD and microSD cards with the introduction of a new Pro Series line featuring cards with capacities up to 64GB and transfer speeds up to 80MB/s.

Available, the cards were on display at PhotoPlus International Conference + Expo at the Javits Convention Center in New York City, NY.

These memory cards offer added performance benefits for photographers looking to capture high-quality images, or for mobile users looking to expand the storage capacity and life of their smartphone or tablet device.

The new Pro Series cards expand Samsung’s line-up of memory card products, joining new High Speed Series and Plus Extreme Speed Series – both of which include cards with capacities up to 32GB.

Also at the PhotoPlus Expo, Samsung exhibited its full line of digital imaging products, including new NX lenses joining the growing NX family of compact system cameras and SMART compact point-and-shoot models with built-in Wi-Fi.

Pro Performance, Premium Package
Samsung’s Pro Series SD and microSD memory cards are designed and built with durability and performance. Sporting a unique design, the Pro Series memory cards enhance the overall aesthetic of the card, giving them a premium look, while also giving users peace of mind, as each new card is designed to be water resistant, shockproof (up to 3,200 lbs.), and magnet proof (up to 10,000 gauss ). This level of durability ensures users will be able to carry their memory cards in a variety of grueling weather conditions, allowing them to tackle picture taking in the world’s most difficult situations or take music and entertainment to remote and rugged terrains. The memory cards also feature an eye-catching horizontal design, adding to their style and making them easier to identify.

With transfers up to three times faster than standard memory cards, the Pro Series SD and microSD memory cards are for writing and storing video from 3D and HD camcorders and enthusiast-level interchangeable lens cameras. Read speeds go up to an 80MB/s, ensuring users can quickly access their data, and with write speeds up to 40MB/s images and video can be captured in quick succession.

Quality at Speeds
High Speed and Plus Extreme Speed memory cards complete the line-up of SD and microSD products, and feature a performance boost. Available in 4GB, 8GB, 16GB and 32GB size capacities, they offer transfer speeds up to 24MB/s and 48MB/s, respectively.

As with the Pro Series, they can survive up to 24 hours in water, withstand the force of a 1.6-ton vehicle (3,200 lbs.), and resist up to 10,000 gauss (slightly less than the power of a medical imaging magnet).
