TV Production Star Crossed Pictures Turns to Small Tree Titanium8

Star Crossed Pictures, a NYC-based TV production company,
recently installed a Titanium8
Ethernet-based shared storage system from Small Tree Communications, LLC to improve its editing
team’s workflow.

Having been awarded several large projects, including a documentary
focusing on the ongoing transformation of storied Madison Square Garden, Star
Crossed Pictures required a storage solution that would allow editors immediate
and simultaneous access to media files.

Small Tree’s Titanium8, a 2U rack-mount solution configurable up to eight GbE
or eight 10GbE ports and storage capacity from 16TB to 96TB, is connected to
the facility’s three new iMacs, two Mac Pros and several Macbooks running Final
Cut 7, providing maximum performance and flexibility.

"Before installing the Titanium8
system, we were saving media on portable drives and copying files as needed,"
said Stephen Palgon, president of Star Crossed Pictures. "As the size of the projects we were awarded
increased, it became obvious that this was a completely inefficient way of
working. The Small Tree system enables our editors to access media from
wherever they are working in our facility and, more importantly, to share media
easily."

In addition to the system’s performance, a primary reason Palgon
decided on the Titanium8 was the solution’s scalability, which offers Star
Crossed Pictures an ability to upgrade to meet its changing needs.
