Once more re-elected for a year

The Fibre Channel Industry Association (FCIA) announced its newly elected board of directors for 2012/2013.

FC technology is the data center standard for SANs and enterprise storage, with more than 80% market share and will continue to be the primary datacenter SAN for the foreseeable future.

The FCIA organization consists of 25 member companies, all of which in the FC industry and continue to provide thought leadership, education and guidance to the growing storage networking market.

The newly elected members
of the 2012/2013 FCIA board of directors are:

  • Secretary: Jay Neer – Molex

This year, FC has achieved a significant milestone.

FCIA has termed it 10-10-10:

  • In 2012, 10M FC ports are expected to ship when you combine adapter and switch ports, but not counting target ports on storage arrays.
  • Also, $10B of FC enterprise storage systems will be sold worldwide, representing 62% of all SAN storage in the market.
  • And finally, in 2012, 10 EB of storage capacity in external enterprise storage system will be shipped with FC representing 66% of the SAN market.

"So, 2012 is the year of 10-10-10 for FC. Investments in FC solutions continue to deliver the most value for the enterprise today and will continue to provide value in the future," said Skip Jones, chairman FCIA.
