This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on October 12, 2012 at 2:53 pmSynology Inc. launched DiskStation DS2413+, a 12-bay NAS server delivering scalability in capacity and performance to SMB users.
When the DS2413+ capacity falls short of demand, users can pair it with one Synology DX1211 expansion unit to grow its storage.
"For users requiring maximum system uptime to run business-critical applications, the DS2413+ provides an exceptionally high level of data protection and performance," Chad Chiang, product manager of Synology.
The DS2413+ is guarded with a set of reliable mechanisms including passive CPU cooling technology, system fan redundancy, hot-swappable drives, and dual LAN failover support, which help eliminate single points of failure and ensure continuous system uptime during malfunction.
Powered by a 2.13 GHz dual core processor and 2GB RAM upgradable to 4GB, DS2413+ delivers reading and writing speeds at 201MB/sec and 197MB/sec respectively under RAID-5 configuration with Link Aggregation enabled in a Windows environment. Another enhancement to the DS2413+ is the USB 3.0 interface offering file transfers up to 10 times the speeds of USB 2.0 connection.
With iSCSI support, the DS2413+ can be integrated with major virtualization solutions, including VMware vSphere VAAI support, Citrix XenServer and Microsoft Hyper-V. In addition, it fits into a business environment with LDAP, Windows AD and ACL support.
The DS2413+ runs DiskStation Manager (DSM) 4.1, the OS of every DiskStation and RackStation. It provides features to boost productivity and simplify tasks, all on an interface optimized for multitasking.
