Infineta Systems Assigned Patent for WAN Optimization

Dictionary architecture and methodology for revision-tolerant de-dupe

Infineta Systems, Inc., provider of WAN optimization solutions for big traffic workflows, announced has received another patent (U.S. No. 8,244,691) for its research on data deduplication technology from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

This patent captures additional specifics on Infineta’s approach towards scaling data deduplication to multi-Gigabit speeds while delivering data reduction efficacies.

The patented technology, along with previously patented IP, serves as the basis for Infineta’s WAN optimization product, the Data Mobility Switch (DMS), and is evidence of the company’s innovative approach to building WAN Optimization solutions for the inter-data center market from the ground up.

Infineta’s portfolio of awarded and pending patents represents an important overall breakthrough in WAN optimization technology for big traffic workflows that traverse enterprise WAN networks. With enterprise data sets reaching aggregate volumes in the 100s of terabytes to petabytes, and storage needs doubling every year, there is a dire need for scalable WAN optimization solutions to accelerate the large volumes of data being transferred between data centers. Unlike WAN optimization solutions built using previously patented dedupe algorithms, Infineta’s solutions can reduce traffic footprints at multi-Gigabit speeds while incurring only microseconds of dedupe processing latency.

"We’ve taken a very different approach to solving the challenges associated with the traversal of data across long, fat networks," said Raj Kanaya, CEO and co-founder of Infineta Systems. "This latest patent is further validation of our approach and is indicative of the fact that to solve bandwidth challenges you have to look beyond traditional software fixes and think completely out of the box. Infineta’s inventiveness is a true market advantage and we’ll continue to push the boundaries on performance to solve today’s bandwidth challenges."
