Whiptail Integrating Micron SSDs

Into 100% flash arrays

Whiptail Technologies Inc., in 100% silicon storage arrays, has joined forces with Micron Technology, Inc. to offer Micron flash storage across all WHIPTAIL arrays.

The news further supports WHIPTAIL’s dedication to helping customers achieve massive multipliers in time and money saved while improving performance of any application request that drives their day-to-day business activities.

"As the most critical component in our solution-set, having a tightly aligned flash drive supplier keeps us ahead of the curve in product development, allowing us to collaborate and build even faster, more reliable arrays," said James Candelaria, CTO and co-founder of WHIPTAIL. "After meeting with and testing several drive manufacturers, we selected Micron due to its superior drive performance as well as our combined alignment on company culture and corporate values."

WHIPTAIL is transforming the way companies turn IT capital and operational expenditures into a savings and profit engine through the use of flash or SSDs. Its flash-based storage solutions – driven by Micron NAND flash – change the way applications are deployed and consumed by consolidating existing, cost-heavy storage arrays onto a smaller, yet more powerful footprint. As a result, power, cooling and floor space costs go down while performance goes up and businesses have money and time back in the bank.

"WHIPTAIL has clearly distinguished itself as a best-in-breed storage array vendor and we look forward to working together to provide customers with the fastest and most reliable solution for their performance-driven applications and IT tasks," said Ed Doller, VP & GM of Enterprise Storage at Micron. "Organizations can no longer ignore the tremendous benefits flash storage plays and the combination of WHIPTAIL and Micron will help drive this next big wave of innovation."

WHIPTAIL demonstrated an INVICTA, featuring all Micron flash storage at VMworld 2012 August 26 – 30 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, VA.
