RDX Technology Overview
Since its introduction, RDX technology has been adopted by OEM server manufacturers, including Fujitsu, HP, Hitachi, IBM, NEC and Toshiba. Tandberg Data owns the development rights to RDX technology, having acquired the RDX business, including IP and key members of the RDX engineering team, from ProStor Systems in May 2011.
RDX cartridges are available in HDDs and SSDs ranging from 64GB to 1.5TB (The 1.5TB RDX cartridge will be available in September 2012.). All cartridges are removable for off-site storage, disaster recovery and archival applications and are built to last more than 10 years with normal use.
RDX-based solutions include single dock systems; LAN-attached disk-based appliances; and multi-cartridge removable disk libraries.
