Datalink Deploys $1.1 Million Virtual Data Center at Velocitor Solutions
For mobile accounting and GPS vehicle tracking
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on June 22, 2012 at 2:45 pmDatalink Corporation completed
of a $1.1M unified virtual data center (VDC) infrastructure deployment for Velocitor Solutions, a Charlotte, N.C.-based
mobile/wireless SaaS vendor serving
transportation/logistics, direct-store-delivery, field service and field sales
customers.
The new data center environment will enable Velocitor to add SaaS capacity for
company services ranging from mobile accounting to GPS vehicle tracking, help
ensure 24×7 application availability, and support Velocitor’s internal staff.
"We had exploding demand
for our SaaS offerings that caused our data center environment to grow by 200%
in just one year. We had to constantly deploy new server and storage hardware
at two locations to support new customers," said Rich Pacella, president,
Velocitor Solutions. "We turned to
Datalink for guidance on how to streamline our infrastructure to save time and
money, position us for continued growth, and optimize the customer experience."
Datalink served as strategic advisor on the project; designed and
deployed compute, network and storage components into a single, unified FlexPod
architecture featuring technologies from NetApp, Cisco, and VMware; and
deployed site-to-site failover and DR capabilities. FlexPod is a pre-tested,
optimized and pre-validated data center solution supported by Datalink as part
of the company’s VDC migration strategy for large and midmarket enterprises.
Datalink is also providing its OneCall SM Unified Support services
to supplement OEM support programs and provide streamlined solution-level
assessment and resolution. Leveraging the support services teams, best
practices, and data center expertise of OneCall, it will assume ownership
of each reported incident, conduct initial triages, and resolve issues. Should
incidents be escalated to OEMs, it will shepherd all incidents until a
resolution is achieved.
"This project is a prime
example of how Datalink is using its VDC expertise to help customers take
advantage of newer cloud-based data center technologies that can help move
their business forward," said Paul Lidsky, Datalink president and CEO.
"By focusing on converged data
center architectures that incorporate virtualization, private cloud computing
and advanced networking, we are enabling customers, like Velocitor, to gain
agility, efficiency, and performance that are critical to business success."
The revenue of this project was recognized in the fourth quarter of
2011.
