2 and 4 bays, NAS + iSCSI, IP surveillance
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on June 12, 2012 at 2:55 pmBuffalo Technology announced an addition to the TeraStation 5000 family.
The devices are equipped with Intel Atom Dual-Core Processor D2550/4 threads, providing faster transfer of large files from multiple computers. Packed with business class features and advanced functionality, the TeraStation 5200 and 5400 can be used as NAS and iSCSI storage servers simultaneously making it suitable for SMBs that require a multi-functional storage server.
The TeraStation 2-Bay (TS 5200) and 4-bay (TS 5400) offers a solution to meet the increasing data demands placed on SMBs. It offers performance, flexibility, security and capacity usually available in enterprise storage devices.
"Secure data storage is critical to any SMB," says Paul Hudson, sales director for Northern Europe at Buffalo. "Our latest range to the TeraStation 5000 series has been designed to handle the demanding storage needs of SMBs, now with significantly higher performance levels coupled with a much more versatile operating system that scales with business needs and reduces the overall storage and back-up costs."
For SMBs that require a solution for demanding networks and business critical applications, both models have a RAID-based NAS and iSCSI storage solution feature making it for large networks and business critical applications. The flexibility and capability offered by this functionality makes it proficient at handling traditional NAS and iSCSI targets simultaneously with minimal performance degradation.
In addition to the hardware, the Buffalo Software suite is tailored to meet the demands of SMBs providing functions that support critical business applications such as the surveillance server IP camera recording, built-in directly to the unit. With the Buffalo surveillance solution SMBs can record from their office using the IP camera and stream it directly to the TeraStation. Each one is capable of supporting and managing up to teb IP cameras.
The backup design feature provides data protection and duplication of data from one TeraStation to another, with the capability to support cloud storage service. It has an easy-to-use web user interface and 2GB of DDR3 memory installed.
USB 3.0 ports enable the performance NAS to external device backup. Each solution also feature four USB ports (two USB 2.0 and two USB 3.0).
