StorageCraft Introducing Backup Monitoring Solution
ShadowControl CMD
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on June 7, 2012 at 3:03 pmStorageCraft UK announced the availability its family of backup, DR and BC solutions, ShadowControl CMD.
It provides remote and web-based monitoring for any server, desktop or laptop that uses ShadowProtect for its backups. Its tiered system allows for monitoring at the installation, department, or organizational level. The flexibility gives the same control to an MSP monitoring multiple companies or a network administrator coordinating backups for a mid-sized enterprise with multiple locations.
"Instead of hazarding to chance and hoping their backups are working, our reseller partners and their customers can monitor all ShadowProtect installations within their organisation. ShadowControl CMD offers an extra layer of DR security via a complete, real-time overview that shows what’s happening to each and every backup job," said Dominik Zingg, MD of StorageCraft Europe.
ShadowControl CMD operates with three status levels: Good, Warning and Critical. Administrators have the ability to set rules that will trigger notifications for a change of status on each installation of ShadowProtect within a system. The rules are adaptable for numerous configurations, whether an MSP or IT administrator needs to monitor multiple companies or a mid-sized enterprise with several locations.
In addition to the basic notification that a backup has succeeded or failed, users can create rules based on the amount of available storage space, machine status, disk errors or corruption, and the status of ShadowControl ImageManager. Rules also apply to specific backups; for instance, administrators can receive notifications if the backup image file is unusually large. These automatic alerts are designed to attract attention to issues as they happen, preventing them from becoming a bigger problem.
Reporting from ShadowControl CMD is flexible. Administrators can run status reports – based on unique installations, locations, or for every system in the environment – and then send these reports to customized recipients, including individual customers.
