The good news is that HP is continuing to invest in EVA P6000 Storage. We’re announcing a series of enhancements designed to help you optimize traditional and virtual workloads with new technology innovations.
In a nutshell, these enhancements include:
- New models, EVA P6350 and EVA P6550, with twice the cache
- Increased addressable capacity now over 1PB
- New drive options including support for 200GB and 400GB SFF SAS SSD
- New 3TB SAS drive option for increased scalability
- Integration with VMware vSphere Storage APs (VAAI)
- Performance Advisor Software for intuitive, easy-to-use performance monitoring and troubleshooting interface
What does all this mean to you, our EVA customers?
The HP EVA P6000 represents our fifth-generation of EVA. With an installed base of more than 100,000 units across thousands of data centers, the EVA is a proven solution for mid- to large-sized companies that need enterprise storage features on a modest budget.
Now HP EVA Storage combined with SSDs and VAAI provide an application performance boost for even greater levels of application consolidation.
First SSD benefits: SSDs are ideal for applications that require high random I/O performance and low response times. Designed to withstand the rigors of unconstrained workloads, enterprise SSDs can be utilized as a high-performance storage tier in a multi‑tier environment. Storage tiering is one click away with Dynamic LUN RAID Migration.
We know your organization demands high efficiency and performance for your applications – and you have to keep costs under control. SSDs in the HP EVA provide a key part of the solution. Now the EVA brings high performance, high capacity and high availability to midrange and enterprise companies. Combining the reliable performance of the EVA with SSDs provides a significant performance increase while also reducing power consumption. What’s more, the higher performance delivered by SSDs allows you to protect your investment in current equipment-not to mention using and managing fewer arrays while saving on data center footprint. Your business reaps the benefits that come with high performance, low power, reduced cooling and reduced hardware.
Performance Advisor brings more advantages: The EVA is already 20% to 30% easier to manage than competing alternatives. Since it’s integrated with the Command View Software for single-pane-of-glass-management and performance monitoring, Performance Advisor software brings more management simplicity for your EVAs. You get performance data for P6000 EVA and prior-generation EVA 4×00, 6×00 and 8×00 systems. This means you can immediately detect potential hot spots or performance bottlenecks before they impact your business.
And VAAI too: In a virtual server environment where speedy deployment of new servers is critical, HP EVA P6000 Storage offers a complementary adaptable storage solution. Support for VAAI offloads certain processing functions from the host to the EVA P6000, which can greatly enhance overall server performance. EVA P6000 and VAAI combine the efficiency of the EVA’s virtualized architecture with the advanced capabilities of VMware vSphere.
