Troiano, most recently a principal of Holland-Mark, an independent Boston-based advertising and strategic marketing firm, is a technology entrepreneur who led firms including Ogilvy & Mather Interactive, Primix Solutions, matchmine and the Interactive division of venture-funded start-up m-Qube.
As CMO of Actifio, he will oversee global marketing including product marketing, customer programs, digital and social marketing, public relations, events, advertising and sales promotion.

Actifio’s PAS platform is used by hundreds of customers and sold by more than 100 value added resellers worldwide.
"Mike joining as our CMO is a huge win for Actifio users, partners and team members as we reach the next stage of growth and make the PAS platform the #1 backup, disaster recovery and cloud-based data management choice for enterprises and service providers worldwide," said Actifio CEO Ash Ashutosh. "As we rapidly scale the company, Mike’s deep brand-building expertise coupled with is proven track record of putting technology companies on the map makes him the ideal fit for Actifio."

Before that, he served as general manager of m-Qube, a mobile marketing pioneer that was sold to VeriSign in one of the largest Boston venture capital exits of 2006.
"I’m really excited to join a team already packed with former CEOs I like and respect, in a business that already has such great momentum," said Troiano. "Together, I’m confident we can do a much better job telling the Actifio story, as the first step toward building an enterprise storage brand for the 21st century and beyond."
Troiano spent his early career at top advertising agencies including McCann-Erickson and Foote, Cone & Belding, eventually becoming CEO of Ogilvy & Mather Interactive in 1995. He co-founded New York-based strategic Internet services firm Brandscape in 1996 and merged it with Primix, a systems integrated where he became president.
