This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on May 8, 2012 at 2:20 pmNextpoint, Inc., provider of cloud-based regulatory, compliance, and litigation software, introduces SmartCrawl Collections.
The new evaluation process leverages Nextpoint’s proprietary SmartCrawl technology, ensuring Cloud Preservation users are provided a complete and and forensically sound archive of web-based enterprise content for litigation and regulatory compliance.
SmartCrawl Technology, announced in December 2010, offers custom archiving of web-based content that cannot be captured using out-of-the-box, automated archiving tools. Through SmartCrawl Collections, Nextpoint technology consultants build on the inherent strength of Cloud Preservation to deliver a cloud-based collection from hosted and cloud-based enterprise applications.
According to IDC Research, by 2015 one of every seven dollars spent on software, server, and storage offerings will be spent on cloud-based services. These services include document management systems (Google Docs, Zoho Docs, NetDocuments), collaborative intranet products (Microsoft Sharepoint, IBM Connections, Google Sites), web-based email systems (Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo Mail), and other leading cloud platforms including Force.com, Amazon Web Services, and Microsoft’s Azure Services Platform.
With SmartCrawl Collections, Nextpoint’s technology team will define specific calls from APIs to collect data from almost any cloud-based source. Additionally, Cloud Preservation can be deployed via a Virtual Private Cloud, allowing customers an extension of their existing network topology by providing a private, isolated preservation of their data with control over the virtual networking environment.
Additionally, with Nextpoint’s integrated technology platform, data in Cloud Preservation can be uploaded to the Discovery Cloud platform, with all of the relevant metadata, comments, email chains, and version history information preserved for litigation review.
"Cloud Preservation has been deployed by corporations and institutions of all kinds to build a forensically sound archive of their Internet-based content," says Rakesh Madhava, CEO of Nextpoint. "With SmartCrawl Collections, organizations with more specific behind-the-firewall needs can now provision our services in with an approach tailor-made for their business, legal and compliance requirements. We capture, search, and collect from a myriad of cloud repositories and social media content regardless of the technical architecture and challenges presented. It is Internet technology for an Internet age."
