Intel Partners With StorageCraft
Offering backup appliance on Intel Hybrid Cloud Platform
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on March 26, 2012 at 3:12 pmStorageCraft Technology Corporation, a provider of backup, disaster recovery, system migration and data protection for Windows servers, desktops and laptops, announced that Intel Corp. and StorageCraft have partnered to offer a Backup & Recovery (BDR) appliance, operating on the Intel Hybrid Cloud platform.
Available with the Intel AppUp Small Business Service, the Backup & Recovery appliance, powered by StorageCraft, operating on the Intel Hybrid Cloud platform, gives MSPs a BC, recovery and backup solution designed for SMBs that fits into an Intel Hybrid Cloud environment. The Backup & Recovery appliance protects an organization’s Windows-based computer systems – including the operating system, applications, settings, and data – while eliminating the downtime and complexity associated with most BC and DR offerings.
"The value of a reliable backup system, featuring quick recovery options and high-speed full-system restores, is critical to small and medium size businesses. The ability for MSPs to provide their small business customers near enterprise-grade recovery times under a monthly subscription model at an entry-level price point is an important value that customers appreciate. It’s a perfect fit for small business owners who know the value of business continuity. We’re pleased to go to market with StorageCraft and to offer our reseller partners this compelling solution through our AppUp Small Business Service," said Bridget Karlin, GM, Intel Hybrid Cloud.
StorageCraft ShadowProtect deploys from the Intel Hybrid Cloud platform to take image snapshots and then stores the image files on the Backup & Recovery appliance. After ShadowProtect takes a full backup image, it can then be set to capture only incremental changes, reducing the overhead associated with the backup process. System virtualization, system recovery, and simple file and folder recovery can be performed by mounting the backup image file. ShadowProtect leverages Microsoft Volume Snapshot Services (VSS) to backup Active Directory, SQL Server and Exchange.
With the click of a mouse, an image of a Windows system can be booted into a virtual environment on the appliance, and be up and running in minutes by leveraging ShadowProtect technology. The appliance can continue to make backups of the hosted system, even in the absence of hardware; once the hardware is ready, the appliance can restore an up-to-date system to the new hardware. The appliance also supports image replication to a data center or to a public or private cloud to protect data in the event of a site disaster.
"Delivering a simple, cost-effective solution that protects customers from any type of disaster is an excellent profit building opportunity for MSPs. The Backup & Recovery appliance, powered by StorageCraft and built on the Intel Hybrid Cloud platform, is a natural extension of the Intel Hybrid Cloud environment and an easy companion sale to go along with an Intel Hybrid Cloud server," said Curt James, VP marketing and business development at StorageCraft.
The Backup & Recovery appliance, powered by StorageCraft and built on the Intel Hybrid Cloud platform, is available on a monthly subscription basis, either with pay-as-you-go pricing or as a 36-month contract for lower per user cost. It will be available through the Intel AppUp Small Business Service in the second quarter of 2012, and monthly pricing will be announced at that time.
