ZFS-based

Qsan Technology Inc. unveils its U400Q (with 7 x 1GbE iSCSI ports) and U600Q (with 2 x 10GbE iSCSI ports plus 3x 1GbE ports) arrays from its Unified Storage range for remote and cloud environments. The products are shown throughout CeBIT.

This new ZFS-based product range is for organisations operating a cloud or remote working environment as it makes complex, multiple user account authentication easier through a single domain log-in. This means that with Qsan’s patent filing UnifiedAUTH technology any OS Client (Windows, Linux/Unix, Mac, ftp, WedDAV) can log into the U400Q or U600Q to use all data services including iSCSI target with the same account and password through Microsoft Active Directory (or LDAP) authentication.

Daniel Lin, Sales Director at Qsan, said: "The beauty of UnifiedAUTH is to consolidate user account authentication mechanism to simplify the user login process, Through the Qsan U400Q and U600Q RAID systems from our Unified Storage range SMBs finally have the flexibility of multiple standard support in a single array, enjoying a very appealing combination of high performance, high-capacity and robust storage hardware and software that can also help them contain acquisition and maintenance costs. These arrays mark an important development for Qsan, our customers and channel partners alike."

Unified Storage range include better integration as the products are compatible with Amazon S3 enabling users of this cloud-based service to login and backup the U400Q and U600Q arrays to Amazon S3.

To provide performance both models support CIFS/SAMBA 2.2 and NFSv4 for Unicode files.

A battery backup module keeps cache data safe in the event of power outage.

Both models also support Qsan’s software which provides SSD caching, thin provisioning, de-dup and compression for HDD space optimisation as well as anti virus security.

The first customer shipment and price information is due out at the end of March with the products being available in April.
