DVS Accelerates Cube-Tec Archive Workflow
With Venice video server and Clipster workstation
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on February 6, 2012 at 3:02 pmThe collaboration between Cube-Tec International and DVS Digital Video Systems GmbH, a Rohde and Schwarz company, optimizes the speed and efficiency of workflows in archiving environments – with archiving service providers benefiting from the implementation of both systems as a result.
The workstation CLIPSTER and the video server VENICE integrate into the workflow solutions of the Bremen-based archive specialists Cube-Tec.
At the same time, the DVS systems handle the task of converting the various file formats. Besides generating uncompressed formats, the two DVS systems are able to create JPEG2000 formats at high speed. CLIPSTER and VENICE digitize video materials both via HD-SDI as well as via a transcoding process into a range of compressed and uncompressed formats.
Thanks to a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), integration is carried out using Web-service interfaces (SOAP). This lets users control the DVS systems CLIPSTER and VENICE within their web browser using CubeWorkflow 2.0 and the graphical-workflow software JobDesigner, and manage a high-performance, file-based archiving process.
The various tasks can be freely structured and processed automatically – including ingest and play-out workflows using the DI workstation CLIPSTER or video server VENICE, for example. But this also includes transcoding processes with high data-throughput rates, hardware-based JPEG2000 encoding and a range of format conversions for ingest into any server-based systems such as Avid ISIS Shared Storage and Interplay PAM, which can be carried out.
Juergen Burghardt, Business Development Manager for video systems at Cube-Tec International, said: "Thanks to our collaboration with DVS, we can offer our customers even greater efficiency in terms of their archive workflows. All they need to do is access a single interface which can be opened directly in the web browser to coordinate all processes."
Michael Bauer, Sales Director Central Europe at DVS, said: "At a time of increasing cost pressure, users benefit from increased workflow efficiency thanks to the seamless interaction between the Cube-Tec workgroup management solution and our systems."
