Dave Cahill Director Strategic Alliances, SolidFire

Early member of EMC Centera

SolidFire announced the addition of Ron Bernal, venture partner at NEA, to its board of advisors. The company also appointed Dave Cahill as director of strategic alliances.

Bernal has a long history of participation and investment in enterprise infrastructure and software companies. He serves on the boards of Boulder Wind Power, Drobo, Firefly Green Technologies, and Leyden Energy, and works closely with HelioVolt, Nicira and Blue Jeans Network. Previous board memberships include Data Domain (acquired by EMC), HelioVolt, LifeSize (acquired by Logitech), Indicative (acquired by Nimsoft), ProStor and Redseal Systems.

Starting his career at EMC, he was an early member of the Centera business unit. After EMC, Cahill spent six years on Wall Street in analyst and investor capacities. While at RBC Capital Markets, he was a contributor on one of Wall Street’s top equity research teams in storage.

SolidFire continues to attract top talent from across the country, and these executive additions come on the heels of another announcement made last month when Mark Glasgow joined the company as vice president of worldwide sales.

The same month, SolidFire announced $25 million in Series B funding.

"We had a great year, in which we have laid down a strong foundation for the work ahead in 2012. We have completed both Series A and B financing this year, launched our company and Early Access program, and have expanded out team to more than 40 people," said Dave Wright, SolidFire founder and CEO. "Ron and Dave are two fantastic additions to our team that will help us pick up the pace as we enter 2012."
