Sanbolic Melio Ingredient in Intel ESAA
"How to Build a Microsoft Cloud Solution" solution guide
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on December 21, 2011 at 2:51 pmSanbolic, Inc. announced that its Melio software platform is included as a key ingredient in the Intel Enabled Solutions Acceleration Alliance (ESAA) ‘Build a Private Cloud with System Center Virtual Machine Manager Self-Service Portal 2.0 / Policy-Based Power Management’ solution guide.
For Intel resellers, OEMs and Intermediate eXperimental Vehicles, as well as end users that wish to build an enterprise-ready private cloud, this guide offers a pre-validated ‘recipe’ for deploying a private cloud using Sanbolic Melio in conjunction with Microsoft Hyper-V and Intel Server Boards powered by the Intel Xeon processor.
By providing a flexible, scalable and highly available shared storage platform, Sanbolic Melio enables features for Hyper-V, including live storage migration and QoS, allowing customers to benefit from increased levels of infrastructure flexibility, agility and responsiveness, while minimizing storage-related cost and complexity.
The new Private Cloud Builder reference architecture from Sanbolic builds on its already participation in the Intel ESAA program. Other recipes provided by Sanbolic include: ‘Virtual Storage for Virtual Data Centers Built on Hyper-V,’ ‘Scalable Storage for Windows File Serving’ and ‘Scalable Storage for Citrix XenDesktop.’
"We included Sanbolic’s Melio unified data storage management software as a key component in the ‘How to Build a Microsoft Cloud Solution’ reference architecture because it can enhance application availability, scalability and performance for critical enterprise workloads running in existing virtualization and storage infrastructures," said Rick Cecil, Intel ESAA Architect at Intel.
"We are delighted to have been selected by Intel to participate in their Private Cloud Builders reference architecture, as being included in such a prominent guide serves as further validation that Sanbolic Melio is the ideal storage platform for operating a private cloud at peak efficiency," said Andy Melmed, Director of Enterprise Solutions, Sanbolic. "Intel’s highly respected and trusted network of channel partners, as well as end users, who wish to deploy a private cloud infrastructure can now easily and confidently choose the best solution for their unique business and IT environment."
A one-stop resource for pre-validated hardware and software solutions, Intel ESAA helps its members build relationships, reduce engineering costs and compete with products based on the reliability of the Intel server, workstation and desktop products.
About Sanbolic Melio for Private Cloud
Sanbolic Melio is a software-based product suite comprised of components, including a 64-bit symmetrical cluster file system and cluster volume manager that augments existing application, server and storage infrastructures to alleviate the unintended consequences of virtualization. Melio extends the benefits of virtualization to the storage layer, allowing customers to realize the benefits of application, desktop and server virtualization without the additional data and storage management overhead that so often accompanies these technologies.
By using Sanbolic Melio, organizations are able to deploy private clouds built on Microsoft Hyper-V server virtualization and Intel server architectures with less upfront cost. With its capabilities and feature set, Melio adds flexibility, scalability, availability and elasticity to storage infrastructures – all key aspects necessary for creating a private cloud that allows services/resources (i.e., compute nodes, networking, storage) to be provisioned on demand.
