SMEStorage Adds Support for EMC Atmos and Pogoplug

To its cloud appliance

SMEStorage has announced that it has enhanced support for using Private Cloud Storage with its Cloud Appliance by integrating the EMC Atmos and Pogoplug storage clouds.

The Cloud Appliance unifies data from over 30 different files stores and SaaS services, enabling such services to be accessed and managed from a single ‘Cloud file system’ whilst adding Cloud Governance and e-compliance features across all Clouds used.

Access to using EMC Atmos and Pogoplug clouds is not only available to business Cloud FileServer users but is also available to free users of the SMEStorage multi Cloud Service.

Once a user or business adds these clouds into their Cloud DashBoard, data from these clouds can be accessed and managed directly from SMEStorage clients. These include native Mac, Linux and Windows local Cloud Drives and desktop Sync Tools and also native access from iOS, Android, BlackBerry and Windows Phone 7 mobile devices.

CEO Ian Osborne stated: "We see a big push for companies who want to not only manage their own private data, but also be able to integrate different data endpoints for unified access and management in addition to having some control and governance around use of this data. This is what our Cloud File Server provides.

"Personal or small business users can instantly setup a Cloud File Server using a Pogoplug device without needing to install any software or move any of their files. Everything can be setup and administered via the web unless a user wished to install desktop client access tools.

"For larger businesses and service providers who use EMC Atmos, they can install the Cloud Appliance on their premises or in their data centre and leverage the tools and clients, including added value features that overlay all Clouds that are mapped to the Appliance such as WebDav, FTP, and Amazon S3 API access.

"For service providers these tools and clients are available to be white labelled and customised, and indeed we are in trials with several large global ISPs. For these ISPs the ability to provide value added tools and services on top of EMC Atmos as well as the ability to integrate access to other competitive Clouds is a huge value differentiator."

The Cloud File Server Appliance is available as a SaaS Service, as a hybrid on-premise solution, and as an appliance for service providers to use with EMC Atmos, OpenStack, Eucalyptus, public clouds, or their own home grown storage solutions.
