For storing satellite images

Active
Circle SA
and Deimos Spaces partner to
respond to the needs of the satellite imaging sector.

Deimos Space will
incorporate the Active Circle
system as the storage management part of its complete solutions for capturing,
processing and preserving data from observation satellites.

Deimos
Space, based in Madrid, Spain, is a subsidiary of the
Elecnor Group. Deimos Space provides all the expertise for engineering and
development of operational Ground Segment Systems for space missions.

"As part of our solution, we need a
storage system capable of storing multi-Petabyte imaging data sets
transparently on disk and tape, to handle redundancy for long-term data
preservation. This system must be able to cope with technology migration over
time. Active Circle
meets these requirements
" says Diego Lozano Garcia, Head of Ground
Segment, Infrastructure Division at DEIMOS Space.

"The satellite imaging sector has
very specific requirements for storing very large data sets over periods of 10
to 15 years or more. These are not standard storage requirements. We are happy
to combine our storage management technology with Deimos Space expertise to
deliver innovative and cost-effective solutions to the satellite imaging customers
," says Philippe Boyon, Director of Marketing and Business Development at Active Circle.

The Active Circle
storage and archiving system is a software-based, virtualized file storage
environment designed to store large data sets in the long-term. It
provides a global and scalable file system distributed over multiple storage
nodes, with replication and integrity features to preserve the data over time.
It is software-based and independent from the storage technologies; built-in
data migration policies are used to move the data sets from obsolete to new
storage devices without disruption for the users or applications.
