Acronis vmProtect 6 (€475)

Acronis Inc. will be demonstrating its latest product, Acronis vmProtect 6 at this year’s VMworld Europe 2011 (18-20 October).

The product is a backup and disaster recovery solution for VMware customers. It can be installed as a virtual appliance, eliminating the need to purchase any additional hardware and minimising memory consumption and management overhead. A web-based interface allows remote management, even on a smartphone, simplifying management and reporting tasks.

The product is optimised for VMware environments, is easy to install and provides unlimited P2V migrations, plus cloud integration.

As we look to the future, the ability to recover in the cloud instantaneously, automatically and on demand will be critical. It will take time for SMBs to move entire production workloads into the cloud, but it will happen once complicated network factors are addressed.
