Seven10 Releasing StorFirst EAS 4 Scalable Archive File System

With cloud and enhanced migration

Seven10 Storage Software, LLC announced EAS 4, a new release of its StorFirst product line.

The new version of StorFirst EAS includes enhanced cloud storage support and the ability to ingest and migrate existing file systems to help customers transition from monolithic archives to scalable and flexible tiered storage solutions.

"Over the last several years Seven10 has focused on developing software solutions purpose-built for enterprise class customers facing difficult data growth challenges associated with technology obsolescence," said Bobby Moulton, president and CEO of Seven10. "StorFirst EAS 4 is the result of an extensively engineered file system built for scale, security and flexibility. As more enterprises look to cloud storage, our ability to inventory and ingest an existing archive file system with StorFirst EAS provides a growth path for customers using proprietary gateways that offer no opportunity for expansion."

Seven10’s StorFirst EAS extreme archive file system
will offer new and improved features including:

  • Support for Windows 64-bit OS
  • Advanced retention, improving data protection without the need for backup
  • Encryption at-rest and encryption-in-transit support for cloud storage platforms including EMC Atmos, AT&T Synaptic Storage as a Service and Telus Storage Cloud among others
  • Load balancing across multiple cloud access nodes, improving performance and availability
  • Native support for LTO-6 and the supported libraries by HP, Quantum and IBM
  • Transparent migration of existing archive file systems
  • Improved security and redundancy with support for MS Active Directory and Failover Clustering

StorFirst EAS 4 is a customer installable file system designed to address increasing archive storage requirements in healthcare, finance, government and other compliance driven markets. Seven10 centralizes long-term data management, driving up archive storage utilization, ensuring retention policy enforcement across tiers of storage to reduce overall cost of ownership. With built-in support for cloud, disk, CAS, tape and VTL, StorFirst EAS is a complete vendor-neutral archive for enterprises looking to managed long-term data growth.

StorFirst EAS 4 will be available through the company’s network of OEMs, resellers, distributors, ISVs, and hardware partners beginning on October 1, 2011.
