Kanguru Defender Elite Encrypted Flash Key Adds OpenSUSE Support

Available through German distributor Optimal System-Beratung

Kanguru Solutions has added OpenSUSE compatibility to the list of operating systems supported by the Defender Elite line of secure, encrypted USB drives.

OpenSUSE, a derivative of Linux, is a free open source operating system used and supported by the worldwide Free and Open Source Software community.

The Kanguru Defender Elite is an enterprise level hardware encrypted flash drive that has GUI support for Windows, Macintosh and Linux operating systems, including the OpenSUSE distribution.

"It is our belief that the Linux user base is a growing, highly technical market and deserves the same support Windows and Mac Operating Systems currently enjoy," said Matthew Losanno, Senior Product Manager at Kanguru Solutions. "The addition of OpenSUSE compatibility demonstrates our support of the Linux community."

The Kanguru Defender Elite is also currently undergoing Common Criteria testing. The Common Criteria testing level has been designated as Evaluation Assurance Level 2 Augmented (EAL2+); meeting level 2 assurances while being augmented with flaw remediation. It is being overseen by the German Federal Office for Information Security (Bundesamt fur Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik (BSI)).

The Defender Elite also offers
the following security features:

  • Overall FIPS 140-2 device certification for cryptographic security
  • 256-bit AES Hardware Encryption
  • Remote Management (Remote disable/delete, password reset, domain restriction, etc.)
