Kanguru Introduces Flash Key Customization Program

Electronic identifiers, custom engraving, auto launched applications

Kanguru Solutions announced a customization program to tailor their encrypted flash drives to an organization’s needs.

The Kanguru program is a cost effective, à la carte setup, designed to help fit a variety of budgets and security needs, from individuals and small business to enterprise and government entities.

"We realize that size, budget, personnel, and structure all play a factor in determining what an organization can and will do in terms of IT security," said Nate Cote, VP of Product Management at Kanguru. "As such,, there generally is no ‘one size fits all’ solution when it comes to Infosec. Our customization program is designed to specifically address some of the most common needs in flash drive security."

In addition to 256-bit AES hardware encryption and onboard anti-virus, some of the customizable options offered by Kanguru include:

  • Unique Electronic Identifiers – Burned into the flash chip, this allows an organization to track device usage using a DLP or endpoint security solution. Pair a drive to a user for tracking usage and creating whitelist or blacklist authorizations.
  • Custom Engraving – Engrave your organization’s flash drives with a company logo or text to help visually identify authorized devices.
  • Custom Colored Flash Drives – Black, Red, Blue, Silver, or Green. Pick a standardized color for an organization or color coordinate devices by department to help identify security classifications.
  • Auto Launched Applications – Customers can provide Kanguru with an auto launch application and have it embedded into a read only portion of the drive during manufacturing.
  • Remote Management – Kanguru also offers a remote management application called KRMC (Kanguru Remote Management Console) for securing flash drives in the field. Available in both Cloud and Enterprise versions; KRMC allows administrators to remotely disable or delete lost/stolen devices, track IP usage, enforce password strength and more.

In addition to customization, Kanguru’s secure flash drives also come in FIPS 140-2 validated models and are undergoing Common Criteria testing.

Kanguru offers evaluation units to organizations wishing to test their devices before committing to a purchase.
