Oasys Certifies PoINT Archiver
For video file archiving on LTO-5
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on September 19, 2011 at 2:51 pmOASYS, a trading name of On-Air Systems Limited, and PoINT Software & Systems GmbH announced that OASYS has certified PoINT Archiver to work with its software-based automated playout solutions for file archiving to tape and optical devices.
In the video and broadcast industry, storage is increasingly a critical element of any complete workflow solution. Adding hard disk space with the high performance and availability required for automated playout solutions can be very expensive. Using PoINT Archiver, the required capacity of costly, high performance hard disk systems is reduced as large video files are archived to cost-effective storage media such as LTO-5.
According to the defined playlists, the OASYS solution can then instantly pre-fetch the files from tape to ensure continuous playout. The Software Development Kit available for PoINT Archiver also allows integration of tiered storage management functionality.
"The combination of OASYS software with PoINT Archiver means that our clients can increase their capacity while at the same time reducing their storage costs, without sacrificing performance speed or quality," said Mark Errington, CEO, OASYS. "This is a major addition to our workflow, and we are delighted to be working with the PoINT Software & Systems GmbH team."
"File-based archiving and HSM (Hierarchical Storage Management) offer high cost savings, especially in the digital broadcast industry," states Bernd Klee, CEO, PoINT Software & Systems GmbH. "The seamless workflow created by OASYS in conjunction with our PoINT Archiver makes it so easy to manage very large video archives."
The combined solution will be available from September 2011.
